Your tummy is a temple! Top 5 clean eating spots in Hong Kong

We all know the drill: you wrote some New Year’s resolutions, stuck with them until Chinese New Year and now you’re upset because you don’t look as good in junk photos as you’d hoped. However, it’s not too late to say goodbye to all things sugary, fatty and generally unhealthy. We’ve collated our top five clean eating restaurants in Hong Kong, promising to do the emergency work and leave you reenergised, revitalised and looking better than that girl/guy you hate.

Mana

If you’re in the camp that believes eating clean shouldn’t mean sacrificing your taste buds, go for Mana. The Central resto offers almost naughty-tasting clean options of sweet potato fries (HKD40), healthy vegan burgers (HKD75) and guilt-free truffles (HKD28 each), which won’t break your wallet or your pants. More of a traditional cleanse person? Try the amazing fruit juice (HKD50) and mix-and-match salad (HKD75-90), where you can choose from a variety of ingredients including grilled tofu, hummus, quinoa, roasted vegetables and more .

Locofama

Founded by chef and nutritionist Justin Chan, environmentally sustainable restaurant Locofama sources most of its produce locally, and ensures it’s free from additives, preservatives and GMOs. Treat yourself a succulent miso salmon fillet with a side of mashed cauliflower potatoes (HKD158) and bask in the glory of a delicious low-carb dinner.

Bless

With a mission to inspire and enable healthy living in Hong Kong, Bless offers a free delivery of the freshest cold-pressed juices when you join any of their cleansing programmes (starting from a one-day plan for HKD500 to a five-day plan for HKD2,300). Going clean doesn’t always come cheap! Alternately, on your way to work, grab a cup of sugar-free FOCUS fruitilato (HKD43), which they claim will improve your concentration throughout the day.

Bless, Unit 205, Kowloon Commerce Centre, 51 Kweo Chung Rd, Kwai Hing, New Territories, (+852) 2412-1008. (Google Maps)

Fresca

This new-ish farm-to-table Hollywood Road eatery’s won a group of diehard fans amongst the SoHo lunch crowd with its fresher-than-fresh salads, soups, and delicious vegan cookies (they exist!). The menu varies according to the season (and what cafe owner Ivy Chow’s been growing in her garden), but always incorporates different regional influences. Each of the seven staff members contributes to the cooking, which means that flavours from Thailand and Canada, amongst others, are all stirred into the mix.

On occasion, Prune also offers cooking classes and sustainable workshops.
