More than 6,000 people petition to prevent boutique hotel on the peak

In the last three days, 6,000 people have petitioned against turning a 97-year-old mansion into a hotel on 27 Lugard Road, The Peak.

Petitioners are mainly concerned about heritage preservation and traffic safety.

Built in 1916, the Antiquities Advisory has given the four-storey mansion a grade-two historic status last month.

Central and Western district councilor Joseph Chan Ho-lim of the Liberal Party will lead a protest march along Lugard and Mount Austin roads on Sunday.
