Have you been on a crazy Christmas spree? If so, maybe you should check your wallet and see if you’ve been given a counterfeit HK$1,000 note.
Police have been warning the public to keep a closer eye on Bank of China HK$1,000 banknotes, where fake ones have been found circulating in Hong Kong. The counterfeit notes are said to have a fair resemblance to the real ones. However, upon closer examination, citizens should have no problem identifying the fake notes.
Because of this penetration of some counterfeit notes in the market, 35 million HK$1,000 notes issued by the Bank of China in 2003 will be withdrawn and replaced.
