A 27-year-old woman failed to secure a reduction in her one-year jail term for keeping a false identity card to hide her real age from her boyfriend.
The woman was using a fake card which showed her age as 24 and was purchased in Shenzhen. The woman, Lee, claimed that she bought the card after finding out her new boyfriend was younger than her. Although she submitted three newspaper clippings that showed similar offences which received suspended sentences, the court decided to enforce a 12-month sentence for possessing a false identity card. She said that didn’t know keeping a fake ID card “could be so serious.”
