Another brutal attack on news executives in broad daylight

Two senior executives of the soon-to-launch Hong Kong Morning News, 46-year-old Peon Lei and 54-year-old Hills Lam, were clubbed by four pipe-wielding masked men in Tsim Tsa Shui yesterday in broad daylight. The pair were on their way to lunch around 1pm when the four men pounced on them outside the Science Museum and hit the pair with metal pipes before escaping. Lei, the news’ executive vice-president, had minor injuries to the nose and knees while Lam, manager in the editorial department, suffered bruised arms trying to shield Lei.

Lei and Lam were sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital and police have classified the case as assault and person injured.

Come on Hong Kong! What kind of free city are we to tolerate brutal attacks on press in broad daylight?!
