Paid leave for fathers with new babies is now one step closer, as a mandatory paid paternity leave bill was tabled in the Legislative Council yesterday.
Under the bill, fathers can opt to take three days off, together or separately, from four weeks before birth to 10 weeks after the birth. Fathers will be paid four-fifths of their average wages and the father’s name must be registered on the baby’s birth certificate to qualify. Yay for the family-friendly bill!
