HKJA finds Hong Kong’s press freedom low

In light of recent international surveys expressing concern over Hong Kong’s diminishing press freedom, The Hong Kong Journalists Association (HKJA) carried out a research to find Hong Kong’s Press Freedom Index.

The results collected found Hong Kong’s level of press freedom low with the index at 49.4 out of 100 from the public poll and 42 out of 100 from the journalists poll.

The HKJA believes that the situation is much worse than what the results show as the data was collected before former Chief Editor of Ming Pao newspaper was attacked and the sudden sacking of controversial talk-show host, Li Wei Ling.
