Man arrested for running inside the Cross-Harbour tunnel

A netizen posted on Facebook a short five second clip of a man running inside the Cross-Harbour tunnel towards the Kowloon exit last Friday night at around 9pm.

Cross Harbour Tunnel management confirmed the incident with Oriental Daily and admitted that they noticed the man running in the tunnel on their security cameras and immediately sent a pick-up truck to drive him to safety.

When tunnel security questioned the man, he explained he had a fight with a friend who was driving him so decided to get off the car and walk instead. As he was unable to produce indentification documents, tunnel authorities called the police.

It is against Hong Kong law to enter tunnels by foot and offenders can be liable to HK$5,000 penalty and six months in jail.
