Police have finally found the woman who left her dead newborn baby inside a recycling bag on a train at the Yau Ma Tei MTR station two weeks ago.
After reviewing CCTV footage, police determined that the mother is a 27-year-old Indonesian domestic helper.
The woman has worked for the same employer at properties in Shatin and Diamond Hill for the last four years, using the MTR every day to get to Diamond Hill from Shatin.
Police saw a South Asian woman on CCTV clutching a purple recycling bag and a black and white handbag board the train from Diamond Hill.
For the past month, officers have waited at Diamond Hill station to see if they could identify the woman. When they finally saw a woman who matched the description from the CCTV footage they arrested her.
Under Hong Kong law, the penalty for killing a baby before it is 12-months-old is a life sentence, according to Apple Daily.
