VIDEO: Bus driver’s fake Samsung Galaxy explodes in his chest pocket

A 48-year-old driver for the Kowloon Motor Bus Company thought he’d save some money by asking a colleague to get him a knock-off Samsung Galaxy Note 3 from Mainland China. It definitely did not pay off when the phone exploded while it was in his shirt pocket, reports Apple Daily.

At 7am last Tuesday, he noticed that the phone was making weird noises. He later noticed that smoke was emitting out of the phone (this would be a good time to throw the phone far, far away). Before he could react, the phone freaking exploded in a cloud of smoke and fire while still in his pocket.  The man finally sprung into action and put the fire out with a hose. Thankfully, he was not seriously injured and escaped with only minor burns to his chest.

Here’s one sign that should have alerted him to the potential shoddy workmanship behind the phone: it only cost him about $220 HKD. He decided to buy a Sony M2 to replace his now disintegrated phone.

If you feel like you really needed an animated play-by-play of what exactly happened on that fateful day, check out the video Apple Daily made below:
