Anti-Occupy Central organization plans march for Aug 17 for “peace and universal suffrage”

The Alliance for Peace and Democracy—a major anti-Occupy Central organization that has garnered a million signatures on its anti-Occupy Central petition—is planning a march for August 17.

They said that the march is “a walk for peace and universal suffrage”, and not “anti-someone”. It will start in Victoria Park in Causeway Bay and end in Chater Garden in Centra;, reports the SCMP. This is the same route that the July 1 protest took.

The organisation predicts that between 50,000 and 60,000 people will participate in the march.

Chief Secretary Carrie Lam said though she agrees with the Alliance’s objectives, she will not join as she does not want her presence to overshadow the message.
