The Centre for Food Safety has told lawmakers that they plan to throw away 110 tonnes of food supplied by the Husi Food Company, the food supplier that is under investigation under allegations that it was using expired meat.
Operation McDump has already started, with 15 tonnes of food originating from Husi Food Company’s Shanghai plant dropped off at the West New Territories landfill, reports the SCMP.
The Centre for Food Safety has inspected eight other fast food chains to see whether or not they have imported food from Husi Food Company’s Shanghai branch in the past two years. Thankfully, they’ve found none. The eight investigated companies are 7-Eleven, Burger King, Ikea, KFC, Pizza Hut, Starbucks, , Subway and Yoshinoya.
