Two axe-wielding vandals cause $100,000 in damages at one arcade while shirtless thief steals $5,000 from another

Yesterday morning, a shirtless thief pried open the door of a two-decade-old Cheung Sha Wan arcade, and broke into a machine that adds game credits to players’ membership cards in exchange for cash. Wearing a reusable shopping bag to cover his face, he stole $5,000 from the machine while a CCTV camera recorded the entire incident. Apple Daily described him as “chubby”. After the shop manager came to work, he reported the incident to the police.

Also yesterday morning, in a separate incident, two axe-wielding, mask-wearing men broke into an arcade in Tsuen Wan and destroyed five game machines with no explanation, causing roughly $100,000 in damages. The owner of the shop, which has also been round for over twenty years, says this has never happened before.
