Beetlebummer: Hong Kong was so hot that Blur couldn’t finish recording their 8th album

Blur started recording their eighth album in Hong Kong last summer but stopped short of finishing it as they found the heat too much to bear. Their recording session in Hong Kong lasted about a week, reports the Guardian.

“There’s some great tunes on there,” Damon Albarn, frontman of Blur, told NME. “[Unfortunately] there was too much commuting between where we were staying and where we were recording, and it was a bit too hot. I think that’s why we didn’t get it finished.”

Around 15 songs were written but sadly it’s unclear whether the public will ever get to hear them as Albarn said it would be too difficult to finish the project once they had taken time away from it. Their last album, Think Tank, came out in 2003.

Apparently Hong Kong’s ubiquitous aircon wasn’t enough for Blur. Oh well.
