The world’s most popular flight route: 4.9 million people flew from Hong Kong to Taipei in 2013

You might not have known it, but your weekend jaunts to Taipei were contributing to a world record. The world’s most-flown flight path in 2013 was from Hong Kong ato Taipei, with almost 4.9 million passengers making the journey last year.

That’s actually an 11.5 per cent decrease from 2012, according to International Air Travel Association data released to the Telegraph.

Here’s the full list of the world’s top 10 most popular flight routes in 2013:

1. Hong Kong to Taipei: 4,876,595

2. Dublin to London: 3,562,951

3. Jakarta to Singapore: 3,435,375

4. Seoul to Tokyo: 3,272,375

5. London to New York: 2,729,362

6. Amsterdam to London: 2,724,022

7. London to Milan: 2,075,485

8. Honolulu to Tokyo: 1,895,611

9. New York to Toronto: 1,600,226

10. New York to Paris: 1,545,938

Psst… According to the Telegraph, the cheapest month to fly from Hong Kong to Taipei is October!

The route that showed the highest increase in the number of passengers was New York to Paris, with 16.9 percent more people than in 2012. Looks like the Americans are finally getting cultured.
