The popularity of Hong Kong’s Avenue of Stars is no longer about the statues, but its ‘selfie’ potential. At least that’s what it looks like in this photo series by Luisa Dörr and Navin Kala.
When on assignment in Hong Kong recently, the visiting photographers couldn’t help but notice the hordes of people exercising their right to the most modern form of self-expression all along Kowloon’s famous tourist attraction.
Speaking to Coconuts HK, Navin said, “We spent a total of seven days, walking up and down, hunting the most fascinating people and situations. At some point we were addicted, it was too easy, too nice, too fast. Selfie is a way of self realisation, of sublimating one’s own existence. Is the easiest way to say, ‘I’m here, I am that’.”
Hope that’s given you all some inspiration!
