Hong Kong’s the Bomb: WWII relic exploded in North Point

It seems Hong Kong construction sites are even more dangerous than most. For the second time this year, a bomb from World War II was unearthed by workers digging foundations for new buildings yesterday.

This time, the bomb, said by RTHK to be half a metre long, was discovered in North Point’s Harbour Parade.

The nearby bus terminal and the streets around the site were closed while a bomb disposal team conducted a controlled explosion.

In February this year, another bomb, believed to have been dropped by the US on Japanese-occupied Hong Kong during the so-called “War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression”, was found at a construction site in Happy Valley.
