Hong Kong air currently so polluted you can chew it: Air Quality Index at “unhealthy” 174

No, that haze over the world isn’t a result of your Thursday-night hangover. It’s a blanket of smog currently smothering Hong Kong, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) hitting 174 as of 1pm today. An AQI of 0 to 50 is “good”, and when it hits 100 it starts getting hazardous to certain vulnerable people’s health. At 150, it’s unhealthy for everyone.

So try to breathe a little less today.

(Credits to the Daily Show for coming up with the “air you can chew” phrase).
