Sign Us Up! Free, BYOB, public holiday music festival coming to Hong Kong on Oct. 5

Summer is now in its final days, but that doesn’t mean Hong Kong can’t throw one last party to give the season the ultimate send off. With the (hopefully) cool autumn breeze and lights from Victoria Harbour setting the scene, the Central Harbourfront Event Space will be playing host to the brand new and TOTALLY FREE ‘Music On The Green’ festival.

Under the pretense of being a “Green Summer Festival” – there will be a display on urban farming and a small green market for those who care – Clockenflap’s groovy little cousin will see some of Hong Kong’s “greatest” rap and DJ talents pounding out the hip-hop, reggae, house, funk and dub, all day long in the sun.

For the more musically-informed individuals in Hong Kong’s party scene, Kwokkin, Heyo, 08Workshop and newbie No Man’s Land will be representing for rap, while the likes of K-Melo, Groove Thief (watch out for him) and Selekta Sev will be holding up their end in the DJ line-up.

We’ve not heard of any of these guys before, so the greatness of their talents cannot be independently verified, but as this event is BYOB (how awesome is that?) we’re prepared to rave it up to just about anything.

The festival takes place on Chung Yeung Festival (that’s Oct. 5 for all fake Hongkongers) from 2-7pm. We’ll be there with bells on.
