VIDEO: Hong Kong’s Occupy Central protests set to moving music

Last night’s dramatic Occupy Central scenes come across particularly powerfully and poignantly in this video by Kale & Cigarettes.

In the comment submitted with the footage on Vimeo, the website, whose tagline is “Be a contradiction” tells how “things got a little out of hand” last night when protestors were “hit with about a dozen rounds of tear gas, none of which were necessary at all”.

Perhaps it’s the backing track “Walk the Moon” by Anna Sun that makes this war-like film seem almost romantic, as protestors pass out water and supplies and face off peacefully against police.

The lyrics that struck us particularly:

My head’s underwater but I’m breathing fine. You’re crazy and I’m out of my mind

You’re my end and my beginning, even when I lose I’m winning

How many times do I have to tell you, even when you’re crying your beautiful too

Is it just us, or was that a genius song choice?
