The Hong Kong government has announced that Wednesday’s National Day fireworks have been cancelled due to the “latest situation”.
As much as we all love going “oooh” and “ahhh”, the annual celebration of China’s awesomeness would seem a little out of place at the moment, don’t you think?
The official line is that the fireworks – scheduled for 8pm, Oct. 1 at Victoria Harbour – have been scrapped because the access roads leading to viewing hot spots are likely to be “seriously affected”.
Tear gas is probably still safe to let off though, right?
