Hacker group Anonymous take over Hong Kong websites as they ‘wage war’ against Occupy Central police

Hacktivisit group Anonymous has reportedly “waged war” against the Hong Kong police and government for their treatment of pro-democracy protestors. News2share say it received this video, claiming to be from the rebel computer hackers, who have already defaced several Hong Kong websites including: synctech.hk/newsmmcl.com.hk/news, wwpll.com.hk/news, austismpartnership, abaca.hk and gigaflash.com.hk.

All good and well, but we’re pretty sure none of those are government websites… and why pick on the autism lot? They’re not out spraying tear gas… are they??

The video shows a compilation of footage from Hong Kong’s Occupy Central protests, focussing on events on Sunday, when police in riot gear pepper sprayed and tear gassed the crowd.

The rather threatening accompanying automated voiceover says: “It has come to our attention that recent actions used against peaceful protestors here in the United States have found their way to Hong Kong. To the protestors in Hong Kong: we have heard your plea for help. Take heart and take to your streets. You are not alone in this fight. Anonymous members all over the world stand with you and will help in your fight for democracy.

“To the Hong Kong police and any others that are called to the protests: we are watching you very closely and have already begun to wage war on you for your inhumane actions against your own citizens. We will continue to take every web-based asset of your government offline. That is not a threat, it is a promise.”

The video goes on to warn that any further attacks on Hong Kong protestors will result in the release of personal information and email pools online.

“This is your first and only warning. The time has come for democracy for the citizens of Hong Kong. The line has been drawn in the sand. Take this opportunity to stand down while we give it to you, or it will get a lot worse.”

That’s pretty chilling stuff, but do the Hong Kong protestors want or need this kind of support?
