The Pawn sparks excitement about October opening with tasty teaser video

After a story we did in July (where we kind of wrongly reported that Wan Chai restaurant The Pawn was closing down) sparked so much woe and upset, we now know how much Hong Kong loves The Pawn. We were just testing.

The Pawn, Hong Kong

You should therefore be pleased to hear that the iconic three-storey building – which sold all its furniture and kitchenware and now has a completely new interior, new chef, new menu and all-round new concept – is set to reopen at some point this month. Yippee!

The Press Room Group, which owns the beloved restaurant, yesterday released the first of three teaser videos in which a gaggle of good-looking trendy types, ranging in job title from DJ to artisan brewer, tell us they’re “worth the wait”. Oh, and there’s also the #imworththewait hashtag, but we’re not sure that’s going to catch on.

The important one to watch out for in the video is the devastatingly handsome ginger guy (we know those words don’t normally go together – just kidding), who happens to be British Michelin-starred celebrity chef Tom Aikens. He will be taking over as the venue’s new culinary director.

Yummy!
