CY Leung is unstoppable: ‘Mong Kok is not the most genteel part of Hong Kong’

On Sunday Oct. 19, CY Leung did an interview on ATV with host and journalist Michael Chugani. The main takeaway from that interview was Leung’s claim that “external forces” are at play in the pro-democracy protests.

But what most people missed was his jab at Mong Kok.

“As we all know, Mong Kok is not exactly the most genteel part of Hong Kong,” Leung said. Ouch! Mong Kok may not be refined, but it’s got character, damn it!

“Hong Kong generally speaking has a very low and falling crime rate, but by comparison I have to say… Mong Kok is different, and the forces, political or otherwise, operating in Mong Kok are very different too.”

Yesterday, Leung also said that Hong Kong can’t have true universal suffrage as the city’s politics would be dominated by poor people. Facepalm.
