We may all love to hate Americans with their big cars and good looking presidents, but we sure do love to love their food. Umhumm, amen!
If you’re up for some mouth waterin’, finger lickin’, belly fillin’ fun, head over to Cyberport (of all places) this Saturday and stuff yourself silly at the very first Great American BBQ. Sizzlin!
The brainchild of a group of Hong Kong (no doubt rotund) business owners calling themselves Eat Drink USA, the Great American BBQ promises to be waaay more than baby back ribs, gourmet cheeseburgers, pulled pork sarnies, chicken wings and jumbo hotdogs – they’ll also have a bunch of booze. Yippee!
Seriously though, the all-day event (11am and 10pm) aims to celebrate the spirit of family as well as food, as there will be live entrainment, competitions and games for all ages too.
One of the Eat Drink USA founders, described as a “BBQ pro”, said: “The inaugural edition of The Great American BBQ is aimed to kick off many other events in Hong Kong that promote great American food, celebrate family and friendship and of course share the culinary diversity of the 50 states in the US, and we decided to start with one of the corner stones of the American culture… BBQ!”
And these guys certainly seem to know their audience (lazy, hungry Hongkongers), as they’re even throwing in a free ride (up to HKD150) with Uber. Just use the code “GREATAMERICANBBQ” to claim your fancy taxi either to or from the event.
