Kenny G freaks out after Beijing criticises his Occupy Central visit, insists he loves China

Oh Kenny G.

First, he excites pro-democracy Hongkongers by showing up in Admiralty and posing with protesters.

Then, after Beijing takes notice, he has freaks out by swearing on Twitter and Facebook that he doesn’t actually support the protests and that he loves, loves, looooooves China, and “please don’t mistake [his] peace sign for any other sign them [sic] a sign for peace”.

He even deleted the photos he took at the protests!

First, he posted a statement on Facebook.

Then he posted the same thing on Twitter, tweeting eight times in twelve minutes.

It appears that in face of the slightest criticism from Beijing, Kenny G cowered in fear and immediately went into grovelling overdrive. It’s rather pathetic.

The Twitterverse of course started mocking Kenny G’s complete lack of nerve:

He’s referring to Mark Zuckerberg’s recent Q&A session, which he conducted in awkward Mandarin.

We understand that Kenny G probably performs a lot of concerts in China, but he could have left it at “I wish for peace” and kept most of his dignity intact. (Well, whatever’s left of it anyway, after decades of having his music being played almost exclusively in elevators.)
