Contemporary Cantonese @ Ming Court

Staying in Mong Kok, Michelin-starred Cantonese restaurant Ming Court has added 20, yes 20, new dishes to its contemporary menu to entice foodies through its doors once more. The award-winning Wagyu Beef, Foie Gras & Rice Sizzler; an incredibly tempting Deboned Chicken, Swiss Black Garlic Sauce, Rice Cracker; and an intriguing Prawn Wonton, Chive & Dried Flatfish Consomme are among what’s new at Ming Court this month. The Butchers Clubs expands with store

Always popular for its award-winning dry-aged beef, the Butchers Club will now be offering its meat products at a brand new retail store just a stone’s throw from its deli in Wong Chuk Hang. In addition to the imported organic beef and WAMMCO lamb from Australia, the Dingley Dell pork from the UK and the free-range French chicken, the Butchers Club will also be selling a selection of sustainable seafood from Down Under. The new outlet opens on Nov. 1, but don’t miss the Open Day on Nov. 8 between 12pm and 5pm, when customers can enjoy free beer and snacks while checking out the new venue. Online purchases can be made at butchersclub.com.hk and delivery is free for orders over HKD1,000.

Cali-Mex to open fifth branch

Fast becoming one of Hong Kong’s favourite food chains, Cali-Mex is at it again, with a fifth branch set to launch in the trendy Sheung Wan district in late October. This casual diner is the ideal starting place for a night out, with frozen margaritas and ice-cold Mexican beers, perfect for washing down your burritos, tacos or quesadillas. Fillings include US pork shoulder, Australian beef and New Zealand seafood, and with 84 different combinations, the menu certainly won’t get boring any time soon. Stand by for a sixth venue set to open in Wan Chai in the New Year.

Pausa brings a Taste of Italy to Wan Chai

Tasty and affordable, Pausa, which is “break” in Italian, is the newest pizza-pasta joint in Wan Chai. Described by founder Francesco Benazzi as “simple, easy, fun and healthy”, Pausa prepares its meals within five minutes, making it perfect for all you workaholics looking to eat on the run. Dine-in facilities are also available. Pasta dishes go for between HKD48 and HKD60, while large pizza slices cost around HKD30 to HKD50. With all ingredients freshly imported from Italy, it’s sure to be a hit with foodie bargain hunters. Artisanal Italian gelato and the finest Arabica coffee are also on the menu, so why not take a break and sample what Pausa has to offer?

New and improved FoFo by el Willy

Since becoming one of the pioneering Spanish restaurants in Hong Kong four years ago, FoFo by el Willy has captured the imagination of many a Hongkonger with its alluring and exciting menu. After a short timeout to seek yet more culinary inspirations in his Spanish homeland, Head Chef Alex Fargas is back with an array of enticing new platters and tapas, much to the delight of their loyal patrons. New to the menu are: Pescadito Frito (Fried Seasonal Local Fish with Chipotle Mayonnaise), Cordero Lechal (Spanish Baby Lamb), Cerdo Iberico (Slow Cooked Iberico Pork Cheek), and Ostra Con Lima y Chile (Oyster with Lime & Chili Granita). And diners can enjoy all this with some fine Spanish wine or cocktails on the restaurant’s rooftop, complete with its awe-inspiring view of the famous Hong Kong skyline.
