Terrifying! Central, Hong Kong to go into lockdown mode for Halloween

OMG, Hong Kong is preparing for a massive shut down this weekend. Not because of that tiddly Occupy Central thing, but because of Halloween! Add oil people.

The police have announced crazy crowd control measures that will be implemented on Lan Kwai Fong, and for a pretty large diameter around it, from tomorrow night until Saturday morning. We guess that’s what happens when the biggest dress up party of the year (bar the Rugby Sevens) falls on a Friday. Wahey!

From 6pm tomorrow night until 6am on Saturday, D’Aguilar Street will be closed to traffic (between Wyndham Street and Wellington Street), as will Lan Kwai Fong (obvs), Wing Wah Lane, Wo On Lane and Wellington Street between Wyndham Street and D’Aguilar Stret.

From 8pm the same will apply to parts of Glenealy Street, Queen’s Road Central, Stanley Street and Pottinger Street. Click here for full details, but it’s basically that whole area.

They’ll also be bugger-all parking, and those found in the way will be towed “without warning”. We think the safest bet if you’ve got a car is just to stay off Hong Kong Island entirely.

If you’re a person on foot, however, you’re welcome to queue up along Wellington Street, Pottinger Street, Stanley Street, D’Augilar Street and Queens Road Central if you’re really that desperate to be squished into various other sweaty people dressed as super heroes on LKF. No, seriously, it’ll be great.

Occupy LKF!
