For better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in food poisoning and in health…
Guests were probably not expecting the most memorable party favour of gastrointestinal distress when they attended a 300-person wedding banquet at the Regal Riverside Hotel in Sha Tin. Haha, sharting in Sha Tin anyone?
The government’s Centre for Health Protection said they have identified 28 people who developed symptoms of food poisoning between 10 and 40 hours after enjoying the wedding delicacies.
Out of the 28 cases, 26 sought medical attention, one was hospitalised (!), and apparently one was like “whatevs” and rode it out on their own without any expert help. Glad everyone’s ok!
The government helpfully reminds you of food safety tips, like “be a discerning consumer in choosing cold dishes” and “do not try to use salt, vinegar, wine and wasabi to kill bacteria as they are not effective”. Yes, actual quotes!
If you’re salting your food like there’s no tomorrow and washing it all down with healthy gulps of wine in order to prevent food poisoning, you probably deserve to learn your lesson the hard way.
