If you watched the Jungle Book as a child and always longed to take part in Colonel Hathi’s elephant march, now’s your chance! Kind of.
Good exercise for a good cause, the Hong Kong Elephant Walk will raise awareness of endangered elephants (and sharks and rhinos, just to be fair) by inviting Hongkongers to stomp through the streets tomorrow.
Initiated by Sharon Kwok’s AquaMeridian Conservation and Education Foundation, the march will see Hong Kong turn up fashionably late for the Global March for Elephants and Rhinos walk, which took place on Oct. 4 (aka World Animal Day) where 137 countries participated to stop poaching and to petition against the legal and illegal sale and trade of ivory, horns and fins.
Though tardy to the party, the Hong Kong Elephant Walk will take place from 2:30pm –5pm, starting from the small park facing the Grand Hyatt’s front entrance and ending at Golden Bauhinia Square.
So if you’ve got more heffalump spirit than Halloween hangover in you tomorrow, and you’re keen to stop seeing such beautiful creatures forced into slavery and potential extinction, then you know where to go. We’ll be tooting along with you!
