As if Beijing needed one more reason to be pissed, a fire broke out at the PLA garrisons in Admiralty right next to the Occupy Central site yesterday morning at around 9:42am.
User HKDemoNow tweeted a photo of the fire at 10am, saying there was dense smoke and flames visible from the outside:
The fire, which is believed to have sparked from a smoke vent in the kitchen, was quickly put out by PLA staff, reports Sina News. Firefighters were called to the scene and hosed water into the building. No injuries were reported and apparently there was no property damage (which is a little hard to believe).
Some protesters thought it was tear gas, as smoke was seen billowing out of the barracks out soon after clashes between police and demonstrators in the morning.
