Calling all pussy-lovers: Hong Kong hosts cat-crazy roadshow

Here, puss puss puss! If you’ve spent too much time on YouTube recently and caught yourself an extreme bout of cat-titude, scratch it out at a rather purrfect show, courtesy of Hong Kong’s Cultural Services Department.

Yes, we’re fur-real!

Held from Dec. 6, 2014, to Jan. 18, 2015 [primarily at the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens (HKZBG), Tai Po Waterfront Park, Hong Kong Park, Kowloon Park, Tuen Mun Park and Yuen Long Park], the exhibition will feature more than 10 types of felines in colourful photo displays and irresistible information panels.

The domesticated cat (which “lives closest to humans”, according to the department), the caracal, the snow leopard, the jaguar and the lion will all be slinking in to make special appearances… in the images.

You’ll soon see why these guys were worshipped in Ancient Egypt.

A Meet-the-Zookeepers session and a few guided tours will also be held on the first two days of the scheme, allowing visitors to learn about animal ecology and their habitats, and raise awareness of nature conservation.

We know this may sound less appealing than looking at cute cat pictures, but we’re assure you, it’s pawsitively fascinating!

And for those with slightly less enthusiasm towards our feline friends (we hear there’s a thing called “dog people” out there), plenty of activities, talks and stall games on other creatures will be there to entertain.

Visitors can indeed soak up HKZBG’s display of more than 70 mammals, 50 reptiles and 300 birds, all free of charge.

See, no cat-astrophe!

Okay, we’re done.
