Look at the tits on that! ‘SumoSushiSakeHK’ is back!

Sumo wrestlers Wakaryusei Keisuke (L) and Shoketsu Yoshiaki (R)

When was the last time you got drunk while watching 300-pound men fight in nappies? We know Saturdays in Hong Kong can be wild, but this one coming is expected to take the biscuit… or sashimi, as the case may be.

After its undeniably novel debut last year, SumoSushiSakeHK (yes, it’s meant to be written like that) is back, bigger and bulkier than ever.

Taking place at the West Kowloon Waterfront Promenade on Saturday (Dec. 13), the celebration of the best bits of Japanese culture will indeed see the three S’s (sumo, sushi, sake) taking the city by storm.

Representing the first of the S’s will be Wakaryusei Keisuke and Shoketsu Yoshiaki, who weigh in at an impressive 130kg and 160kg respectively, and both rank in the top 10 of Japan’s Makushita sumo wrestling division. That’s actually only the third highest, but who’s going to give them stick for that?

These two big boys will perform demonstration matches and explain “sumo wrestling etiquette” (like maybe no more than three nappy wedgies in a row).

Also on hand will be sumo legend Onokuni Yasushi, the 62nd Yokozuna Grand Champion. He weighed an artery-clogging 200kg at the height of his career, but is now a wee slip of a thing – just kidding!

These larger than life sporting celebs are expected to draw around 8,000 people to the outside event, helped by sushi and hot dog eating competitions (for those who fancy themselves as future sumos), shed-loads of Japanese (and some other) food, and lashings of sake, shochu and Suntory beer. Oh, and there will also be music from some very “underground” Hong Kong bands.

If nothing else, it’ll be a great place for anyone having a “fat day”!
