Ice rink, rides and random sh*t: There’s a carnival in town!

If you’re looking to pick yourself up a ‘carni’ bedmate for the festive period, you have kids off school, or you just love roller coasters, the AIA Great European Carnival (god knows who’s the sponsor?) is going to make you very happy indeed.

Back in Hong Kong after an unacceptable eight year hiatus, the “roll-up, roll-up”-style carnival opens today, bringing no less than 1,000 tonnes of heavy duty fun from Europe to Hong Kong’s New Central Harbourfront for three solid months!

As well as your standard Horror House, Fun House and Bumper Cars, there will also be 10 white-ish knuckle rides and at least 50 other weird and wonderful attractions.

And don’t worry, it’s not all hook-a-duck and creepy clowns. We’re talking jugglers (who cares, right?) stilt walkers (hmmm, maybe) and actual REAL LIVE STRONGMEN (okay, sold!).

They’ll also be a Mini-Europe for the selfie-lovers, a Food Village for fatties, and a massive Santa’s Grotto for anyone who hasn’t figured out that whole thing yet.

Still not excited? How about if we tell you there’s going to be a massive 1,000 square-metre ICE RINK flown in from the Netherlands? There you go.

All the fun of the fair starts today and continues until Feb. 22, with more than a million visitors expected by the organisers, who apparently have a pretty decent crystal ball.

Tickets start from HKD90 and can be purchased on ticketflap or on the gate (which opens at 11am each day).
