Go see ‘The Vagina Monologues’, help Hong Kong’s domestic helpers!

‘The Vagina Monologues’, the famous play that is traditionally performed annually on Valentine’s Day with proceeds going towards stopping violence against women, will be put on by volunteers at Sheung Wan’s Premium Sofa Club for four nights this Feb. 11 – 14.

All proceeds will be going to the HK Helper’s Campaign, which advocates for the city’s domestic workers.

Eve Ensler’s play, based on 200 interviews with women about their lives and their sexuality, has often been shunned by mainstream audiences due to its unapologetic, seemingly R-rated title. However, everyone should go see it at least once, no matter how prude you think you are.

You’ll leave the theatres having laughed, been moved (perhaps to tears), with a bit more history and biology knowledge, and most importantly, with a newfound appreciation for, yes, the vagina.

This rendition is directed by Vanessa Noble and produced by Meaghan McGurgan.
