Get ready to dye at Hong Kong’s Holi Beach Party!

Of all the flamboyant parties and religious traditions Hong Kong has to offer, no event has been more successful in marrying the two than the Holi Beach Party.

Set to take place this Sunday (March 8) in Stanley, the ancient Hindu celebration (bastardised with plenty of beer) is one you won’t want to miss.

Characterised by its playful coloured powder fights, the free-for-all festival celebrates the legend of the Holika as well as the beginning of spring.

For most Hongkongers, however, it’ll be a reason to return to the beach and get messy in more ways than one.

The soundtrack to the ruckus will be provided by Germany’s DJ Deep, who will bring us the best of his brand of European dance music, and Hong Kong’s DJ Agni, who will spin her suitably Bollywood-inspired tracks.

Bring your own coloured powder and your water weapons, because everybody’s a fair game!

What: Holi Beach Party
When: noon – 5pm, March 8
Where: Chung Hom Kok Beach, Chung Him Kok Road, Stanley
