Hong Kong police officer gets punched in the face nine times, rescued by onlookers (VIDEO)

A video showing a police officer get punched in the face nine, brutal times yesterday morning has gone absolutely viral on the Hong Kong interwebz.

A CCTV camera caught a police officer, surnamed Wong, approaching a Pakistani man furiously banging on the window of a money changer booth.

The 40-year-old officer grabs the guy, who turns around and starts pummelling him in the face, landing nine solid punches right on his noggin.

Rather inexplicably, Wong does nothing to stop his attacker, instead holding onto him while turning his head.

Finally a passerby (still holding his suitcase) and a security guard rush to Wong’s aid, with the guard bear-hugging the assailant from behind and bringing him to the ground.

A second cop finally arrives.

The Pakistani man has been identified as Tahir Muhammad, aged 35. He had allegedly gotten into a dispute with the money changer, reports Apple Daily

Officer Wong was treated at the hospital for injuries to his face, in particular the corner of his left eye

A reporter asked the officer why he didn’t fight back: “After the first punch I was already kind of dizzy, so I reflexively just kept holding onto him.”

Someone fix this man’s fight-or-flight response because it’s clearly broken!
