Hong Kong commuters panic as woman’s handbag ‘explodes’ on MTR

MTR commuters were given a nasty shock yesterday when a woman’s handbag seemingly exploded.

Passengers pulled the emergency stop level after the blast on the train from Jordan to Tsuen Wan yesterday.

According to Apple Daily, witnesses believe a vacuum flask exploded inside a woman’s handbag, releasing jets of vapour.

The woman reportedly gathered her scattered belongings and quickly darted into another carriage, as you would if your bag had just exploded.

The MTR Corp. said a staff member boarded the train at Yau Ma Tei but could not find any witnesses.

As a precaution, the remaining 500 or so passengers were kicked off at Sham Shui Po while the train was inspected.

Some complained that they were not given any information during the panic and that the train continued on for several stops as usual.
