Traffic was blocked and major roads closed today as a police bomb squad finally detonated a WWII era bomb near Victoria Park.
The Police Explosive Ordinance Disposal Bureau was on the scene at a construction site near Victoria Park swimming pool for the fourth attempt to blow up the 400-pound relic, reports RTHK.
The procedure, which took place at 4:20pm, was planned for yesterday afternoon and then rescheduled to 10am this morning, with the ordinance’s unstable surface and the weather apparently hampering previous operations.
Parts of the area were cordoned off, with traffic gradually resuming to normal after the detonation.
The bomb was discovered by construction workers two days ago.
