A Indonesian domestic worker is fighting for her life in Hong Kong after being crushed by a falling concrete block while she slept on a roof.

The 33-year-old woman was asleep under an awning on a North Point second floor terrace when a 60kg concrete slab, a sill above an air conditioner, dislodged from three floors above.

She was crush from the waist down while the another domestic helper, who was sleeping next to her, was unhurt.

The incident occurred at around 4:30pm yesterday on an outside area of the Chu Kee Building on Kings Road.

According an SCMP police source, the podium belongs to an employment agency which used the second floor flat as a dormitory for foreign domestic helpers awaiting work.

Police are said to be investigating why the two women were sleeping outside.
