How to stalk your dog: Pet tracking concept coming to Hong Kong

Are you a crazily obsessive Hong Kong pet owner who needs to know EXACTLY where Fluffy is at ALL TIMES? Do you secretly suspect your dog walker leaves Fido tied to a lamppost while having a foot massage?

A team of innovative students from the UK are coming to Hong Kong with an idea that might make your ears prick up.

Sarah Gerrard, Jake Hutchinson and Ciara Duffy from Greenhead College in Huddersfield, England, (ey up, the north!) are coming to the Kong in June to compete in the finals of the PolyUGlobal Student Challenge.

The competition called for students all over the world to submit a 20-page business plan (we want to know if they specified font size) on an invention they think the world is missing.

The Huddersfield lot came up with an idea dubbed TrackerTech, which proposes the use of a GPS tracker inserted under an animal’s skin that can connect with the pet owner’s smartphone via satellite.

According to the Huddersfield Daily Examiner, the team envisions making of profit of more than GBP400,000 (HKD4.6 million) in the first year of operations.

If Hong Kong pet owners are anything to go by they might just make that, and then some.
