Mainland artist accuses Cathay of lacking morals after he’s found guilty for throwing cup at attendant

A famous mainland painter who threw a cup at a Cathay Pacific flight attendant because she didn’t serve him water quickly enough has been fined HKD6,000, much to his very vocal dismay.

Lee Yuet-fun, 68, complained outside Tsuen Wan Court, where he was sentenced today, that Cathay Pacific “lacked virtuous morals” because it is not a Chinese company, insisting he’d rather fly with Malaysian Airlines.

We’re not sure if anyone told him that Malaysian Airlines is also not Chinese owned. Never mind. He’ll work it out.

Lee was found to have thrown a plastic cup at the air hostess during a flight from Singapore to Hong Kong on Dec. 10 last year.

He claims the cup fell out of his shaking hand because he suffers from diabetes and couldn’t take his medicine as he was waiting for the water, which took 20 minutes to arrive.

However, according to the SCMP, Deputy Magistrate Jim Chun-ki said Lee’s testimony was shaky (just like his hands), while that of the flight attendant was consistent throughout.

Although he gets paid a cool HKD1.27 million A MONTH, Lee whined outside the court that the fine of HKD6,000 was too much because he “did not do it”.

With that kind of salary he should probably just hire a private jet next time and/or travel with a bottle of water.
