Hong Kong cadets perform bicycle tricks in completely hilarious, totally serious video

Okay, these bike tricks are pretty impressive – have you ever seen five teenagers riding around on a single bike, arms outstretched?

But we have to admit that we couldn’t help release a giggle or two when watching these completely stone-faced, spandex-clad cadets awkwardly perform cheesy unicycle tricks.

Unintentional humour aside – the kids of the Civil Aid Service Cadet Corps’ bicycle demonstration team mean business.

Many of them have been on the team for several years, slowly honing their skills to be able to perform such gravity-defying feats.

Young Hongkonger Pinky Liu has been a member of the team for three years.

“At first, when I didn’t have the skills, I fell to the ground,” said Liu in a government news piece.

“I was hurt and the coach rushed over to help me. I just endured the pain and practiced again later.”

The team’s trainer, Nelson Chan, first joined the group four decades ago as a young adolescent himself.

“I like the sense of freedom you get when riding a bike,” said Chan.

“It has also boosted my self-confidence and discipline. Practice makes perfect. Training is hard, but I enjoy it nonetheless.”
