Photography competition puts Hong Kong waste in focus

We all know Hong Kong produces too much waste, but for once it’s being put to good use. Now in its third year, the WYNG Masters Award has made “waste” the subject of its 2014-2015 photography competition.

Aiming to nurture the growth of photography as a local art form and stimulate dialogue and awareness of Hong Kong’s throwaway culture, the awards bring the work of the seven finalists to an exhibition at Hong Kong City Hall.

Some representations are playful, some nostalgic, others raw – but all will demand your attention and make you think twice next time you throw a dead battery in the bin.
