Manila hostage survivor escapes unscathed after Ferrari burst into flames in Hong Kong

A Hong Kong man who lost feeling in his right arm after being hit with two stray bullets in the 2010 Manila hostage crisis has cheated death again!

Joe Chan, 51, saw his HKD3.2 million yellow Ferrari bust into flames last night while he was driving along Jordan Road in Kowloon at around 7pm.

Chan escaped from the car seemingly unscathed, but firefighters took several minutes to quell the flames from his otherwise enviable motor.

The spectacle certainly seemed to be enjoyed by the public, who gathered en masse to take photos and videos of the flaming Ferrari. Some people just want to watch the world burn.

According to the SCMP, Chan was forced to give up his car repair business after both his wrists were broken by bullets in the 2010 Manilla hostage crisis.

Sacked policeman Ronaldo Mendoza hijacked a bus and killed eight people in a bungled rescue attempt by police.

Chan sure is a lucky guy. Apart from the whole “my Ferrari caught on fire” thing.

Police say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding last night’s incident.
