The police are investigating two cases in which businesses were splashed with red paint early yesterday morning.
One was a mobile phone accessory shop in Causeway Bay, while the other was a bar in Tsim Sha Tsui, reports Apple Daily.
A minibus driver saw a man wearing a black cap and a black shirt splashing red paint onto the Causeway Bay mobile phone shop, which is located at 6 Cannon Street.
He immediately called the police.
The same shop was the victim of another attack less than a week ago on May 14. Someone reversed a Honda Civic with a fake license plate into the shop’s gate, and left it there. (Maybe it was a gift?!)
Officers are trying to figure out whether the two incidents are related. We’re going to go ahead and guess, yes, definitely.
The owner of the shop told an Apple Daily reporter that she doesn’t have any debts or that she is not involved in any business disputes. (Triad gangs are known to splash red paint onto storefronts as an intimidation tactic.)
About two hours later at 5am, a one-month-old bar located on 144 Austin Road in Tsim Sha Tsui was also splashed with red paint. The Korean fried chicken joint next door unfortunately suffered some collateral damage as well.
The police found a red paint can in a plastic bag down a nearby alley.
On April 23, a man suspected of having connections to triads got into an argument with a staff member at another bar in the neighbourhood. Ten men carrying torches and glass bottles then beat him up.
The injured victim ran 50 metres and collapsed in front of the bar that was splashed with red paint.
The police are investigating whether the sketchy attack and the sketchy paint splashing are related.
Sounds like someone needs to call the CSI: Miami team, stat!
