Hong Kong rolls over and says yes once again to giant ‘horse penis’ clams from Canada

Hong Kong seafood lovers and Canadian traders will both be good and satisfied with the news that geoduck clams from British Columbia are back on the menu!

The rather phallic foodstuff – affectionally referred to in some (terribly immature) circles as “horse penis clams” – were banned for import from the Canadian province on Dec. 24 (Christmas Eve no less!) last year.

This followed detection of a paralytic shellfish poisoning toxin in the live clams by Hong Kong’s Centre for Food Safety (CFS).

In a press release this week, however, a CFS spokesman said, “In view of Canada’s submission of an investigation report and the implementation of enhanced surveillance programmes and actions, the Centre conducted an assessment and decided to lift the import ban imposed on geoduck clams from the Province of British Columbia.”

Wahey! It’s safe to put huge penis-shaped objects in your mouth again!

Too much?

Yes. Too much.
