Pizza Hut Hong Kong launches world’s first pizza box movie projector (#WTF)

There are few joys in life greater than devouring a pizza while watching a blockbuster movie, and nobody understands this better than the folks at Ogilvy & Mather Group and Pizza Hut, it seems.

Targeting Hong Kong’s movie-loving, pizza-crazed youth, the two groups recently launched the “Pizza Hut Blockbuster Box,” which is essentially a pizza box that also serves as a movie projector.

It’s official. The PR industry in Hong Kong is out of control.

The makeshift (and we assume rather greasy) projector works by plugging a hole in the box with a special lens that comes with every pizza.

Through this you can project any movie you like onto a wall via your phone.

Disgusting as the whole phone-in-a-used-pizza-box thing sounds, Hongkongers who’ve tried it apparently responded positively, prompting Pizza Hut to expand the weird and wonderful idea to other regional markets.

The packaging even comes in four designs based on different movie genres: romance, action, sci-fi, and horror.

Nothing like severed hands and floating skulls to make you pass on that final slice.

“In creating this campaign, we wanted a fresh and innovative way to engage and delight our customers,” said Richard Leong, CEO of Pizza Hut HK.

Well, it’s surely a fresh and innovative way to confuse the hell out of us.
