Two 17-year-old schoolgirls hit by minibus in Mong Kok

Two schoolgirls, both aged 17, were hit by a minibus while crossing Fa Yuen Street near Soy Street during their lunch break at around noon yesterday.

One girl, surnamed Chen, was only mildly injured while the other, surnamed Lee, was trapped under the bus, her head a mere foot away from the vehicle’s wheels, reports Apple Daily.

Firemen took about two minutes to free Lee from under the bus. She could be heard screaming in fear and in pain.

Both were sent to hospital. Lee sustained a fracture to her right shoulder while Chen suffered abrasions. They are now in stable condition.

It was raining at the time of the incident, and witnesses told Apple Daily that the minibus, driven by a 72-year-old man surnamed Leung, was not traveling at a high speed when it hit the girls.

The two girls are good friends from two different Form 4 classes at Sheng Kung Hui All Saints’ Middle School.
