My, my, my, it looks like the summer heat has already gotten to some of our heads. The W Hong Kong and Glasstique are teaming up for a sunglasses-themed afternoon tea bonanza for all of June and July.
Instead of focussing on the seasonal ingredients, the mad culinary scientists at Woobar have concocted libations and bite-sized confections inspired by eyewear brands Cutler & Gross, Linda Farrow, Mykita and Speculum. For some, like the Cutler & Gross Apple Cider Sphere and Mykita Finger Layers Blueberry Cake, the inspiration is subtle, whereas the more conspicuous chocolate specks appear on the Linda Farrow and Speculum desserts.
To their credit, the chefs have utilized the vibrant colours of summer fruits in order to create these eye-catching, albeit kitschy, sweets. The similarly inspired cocktails feature cutesy garnishes like lip-shaped candy on the appropriately titled “Mwa” cocktail.
Despite all of our shade, we can’t say no to trays of sweets and a well mixed drink. But if that isn’t enough to coax you to trek out to the W, maybe the giveaways will win you over.
#CreateYourStyle 3D Speculum paper eyewear will be distributed during Afternoon T (without the “ea,” mind you). Diners that upload the most creative, stylish, and/or viral pics featuring the paper shades are eligible to win prizes such as free T sets for two!
All you have to do is use the hashtags #CreateYourStyle and #WHongKong on Instagram or, if you wish to be even more insufferable, you can also share your pics on the Glasstique Facebook Page. Winners will be announced at the beginning of each week through the end of July.
Those that purchase their own pair of stunner shades at Glasstique can enjoy a 20% discount on a tea set or buffet. Reciprocally, diners that purchase a tea set can enjoy a HKD300 cash rebate on any pair of hater blockers at Glasstique to replace those 00’s waterbugs.
